Secure & Private
Your files stay on your computer. Only subscription status is verified online.
Security and Privacy: Your CAD Data Stays Under Your Control
Proprietary CAD designs are sensitive by default. DrawingManager is built as a local Windows application, so your files stay where they already belong: on your PC or inside your organization’s network storage. The only cloud component is subscription verification—your CAD data never needs to leave your environment.
Local indexing and property reading
DrawingManager performs indexing and property extraction entirely on your computer. It does not upload Solid Edge files to remote servers, and it does not require a cloud vault or “sync-to-search” workflow. Your CAD content remains inside your existing storage and access controls.
Minimal internet use (license + updates only)
DrawingManager connects to the internet for two purposes: subscription verification and software update checks. These operations do not transmit your Solid Edge file contents or your indexed property data.
Secure subscription verification
License validation uses encrypted HTTPS connections. Only the information required to confirm an active subscription is sent—never your file contents, file paths, or Solid Edge properties.
Crash reports only (to improve stability)
DrawingManager automatically collects crash reports to help us diagnose issues and improve reliability. These reports focus on technical error details (for example: exception type, stack trace, app version, and basic system info). They do not include your CAD file contents.
No usage telemetry
Aside from crash reports, DrawingManager is designed to work without collecting usage analytics about what you index or what you search for. Your library structure and your day-to-day queries remain private.
Respects Windows permissions
DrawingManager follows the same access rules as Windows Explorer. If a user account doesn’t have permission to open a folder or file, DrawingManager can’t index it either. This makes it straightforward to align the tool with existing IT policies and shared-drive permission structures.
Works offline
Because the index and search run locally, DrawingManager continues working when the internet is unavailable. Subscription validation happens at startup and supports a grace period for temporary offline use, so you can keep working from remote sites, on travel, or during network interruptions.
Firewall-friendly
DrawingManager only requires outbound HTTPS access for subscription verification and update checks. It does not require inbound connections, port forwarding, or special network services.
Your index stays local
The index database is stored on your computer. You can back it up using your normal IT procedures, and it remains under your control like any other local application data.
Updates on your terms
Updates are offered, not forced. You decide when to install new versions—important for stability during critical project phases.
Bottom line: DrawingManager gives you modern subscription licensing without turning your CAD library into a cloud dependency. Your Solid Edge files and indexed properties stay inside your environment, while crash reporting, licensing, and updates remain minimal and secure.
