About DrawingManager

From a daily engineering tool to a modern, actively maintained software solution

DrawingManager started as a tool I personally relied on in my daily engineering work. When development stopped and the software became increasingly unstable—crashes, unresolved bugs, and missing features—it eventually became unusable for me and many others.

Rather than abandoning it, I decided to take a different route.

I purchased the source code of the original DrawingManager application from the previous owner. My goal was simple: bring the software back to life, modernize it, fix long-standing issues, and continue developing the features I always felt were missing.

Since acquiring the source code, the application has been:

Modernized Framework

Updated to a modern .NET framework

Stabilized

Addressed frequent crashes and bugs

Cleaned Up

Prepared for ongoing development

Extended

New and planned functionality

A note on licenses and support

DrawingManager is now developed and distributed by a new legal entity. Only the source code was acquired; no customer database, contracts, or license obligations were transferred.

This means:

  • Previous perpetual licenses are not legally transferable
  • I am not obliged to provide support under prior agreements

That said, I strongly value the original user base.

If you can demonstrate that you were a previous customer of Van Abbema Advies, I will gladly offer a discount on a new subscription as a gesture of goodwill.

Looking forward

DrawingManager is actively maintained again, with a focus on:

Stability and performance
Practical features for engineers
Transparent licensing
Long-term support

My intention is to earn your trust—not by history, but by delivering a reliable tool that keeps improving.
